Terms of Service
Last updated: 4 January 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing and using Back & Forth ("the App"), you accept and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the App.
2. Nature of Service
Back & Forth is a peer support platform for men's mental health. The App provides:
- A community forum for sharing experiences and support
- Personal wellness tracking tools
- A peer-to-peer connection feature ("Reach Out")
- Educational resources and information
3. Not Professional Medical Services
IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER:
Back & Forth is NOT a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. The App does not provide emergency services, crisis intervention, or therapeutic counselling. Always seek the advice of qualified health providers with any questions you may have regarding your mental health.
4. Reach Out Feature - Peer Support Only
The "Reach Out" feature connects users for peer support purposes only. By using this feature:
- You acknowledge this is NOT an emergency response service
- Responses come from fellow community members, not professionals
- In case of emergency, you must contact 999 or local emergency services
- The charity and App are not liable for peer interactions or outcomes
- You use this feature at your own risk and discretion
5. User Responsibilities
You agree to:
- Provide accurate information when creating your account
- Keep your account credentials secure and confidential
- Use the App in a respectful and lawful manner
- Not provide medical advice or act as a mental health professional
- Report concerning content or behaviour to administrators
- Recognise your own limits when offering peer support
6. Zero Tolerance & Blocking
No tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users.
We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive behaviour, including harassment, hate speech, threats, sexual content, or bullying. Accounts that post such content will have their content removed and may be permanently banned from the community.
To keep yourself safe, every member can:
- Flag any post, reply, or message for our moderators using the Report button — our admin team reviews every report.
- Block any user at any time. Blocking instantly removes that user and all their content from your feed and prevents them from starting new conversations with you.
- When you block a user, our moderators are automatically notified so they can review the member's behaviour.
- Manage your blocked users any time in Settings → Blocked Users.
7. Content Monitoring
For safety purposes, the App monitors content for keywords indicating potential crisis situations. When concerning content is detected, administrators are notified and may reach out to offer resources. This is for safety purposes only and is not a substitute for professional crisis services.
8. Privacy and Data
Your privacy is important to us. Personal information you provide is handled in accordance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Your crisis plan, journal entries, and check-in data are private and visible only to you. Community posts and messages may be visible to other users as per the App's functionality.
For full details about how we collect, use, and protect your data, and your rights under UK GDPR, please read our Privacy Policy.
9. Limitation of Liability
Back & Forth MMH (Registered Charity No. 1210246) and the App providers shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to peer interactions, content posted by users, or technical issues. The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.
10. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or engage in harmful behaviour, at our sole discretion and without prior notice.
11. Changes to Terms
We may modify these terms at any time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
12. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
